Christmas is a busy time for all of us. The preparations for Christmas get the attention of everyone. Buying the tree, decorating it, buying presents for the family and friends, cooking are just a few of the activities that overwhelm us. When we feel drowned over our heads in this Christmas buzz is time to stop for a second and ask ourselves: what is Christmas about after all? Is it about shopping? About having the table full of food? No way. Christmas is about enjoying the time spent with family and friends. Christmas is about friendship, cherish and joy. Then, we should focus on activities that involve this kind of feelings. Christmas arts and crafts are great opportunities of spending time with the people we care about and strengthen the relations with them. At the same time, they are perfect ways of preparing for the special Holiday of Christmas, combining pleasure with pragmatism.
Here are some crafting ideas you can use to make the Christmas holiday even more special and beautiful this year.
Make a Christmas arrangement to decorate a corner of your house. Let's call it a Christmas bouquet. Get a pot or a basket and fill it with foam or artificial snow. Then stick on the foam or artificial snow natural elements like tree sprigs and tree cones and in the middle a candle. Then enhance the bouquet with Christmas decorations like stars, bows or little angels. For a finishing touch sprinkle some artificial snow or glittering powder on it.
Natural elements can be used in many Christmas arts and crafts. Creating cards is one of them. Christmas cards making is also one of the simplest crafts, in which you can involve also kids. You can have them draw Christmas patterns on a piece of cardboard or outline yourself the patterns and have them coloring them. This way, you will end up with nice and original Christmas cards that will say a lot more than any other fancy printed card bought from a store.
Make a hanging-door decoration. For this, you will need a piece of felt, plus many other fabric scraps that you will use to put together a Christmas design. Santa in a sleight, with reindeers can be an easy pattern to create. Basically, you can follow any Christmas scene picture and transfer it on a piece of felt, by stitching or gluing.
One of the Christmas arts and crafts based on stitching is also the creation of a pillow. Get a square piece of cotton or silk, fill it with flakes or sponge and then stitch on it a Christmas pattern. You can use the pillow for your own home decoration or you can offer it as a Christmas gift to someone you care about.
A more complicated craft is the creation of a Christmas scene. You can use wood twigs to create little houses, tree sprigs, and plenty of artificial snow.
Window painting is one of the easiest and funniest Christmas arts and crafts. All you need is an artificial snow spray and a lot of imagination. Although white Christmases are nowadays something we only get to see in movies, you can make your window look like taken from a tale.
Christmas is maybe the most joyful holiday of the year. And it is worth being celebrated how we can do best, with a lot of decorations around, many of them created with our own hands.
