Building a Rocking Horse
The rocking horse is a family heirloom thing, to start with you choose the type of rocker you want, be it bow or swing rocker, thhen you select the horse you want. from plans you get your timber sizes, you may not be able to pick up timber the size you want, you then need to build up the timbers, cutting out the sections for the body which cinsist of 2 sides, 2 ends, a top and a bottom, then you need to cut the legs, then you need 4 blocks to fit as muscle blocks to the tops of the legs, then the head in 2 pieces, then muscle blocksfor the neck, and chest, then cut and rescess the legs, then head and glue and clamp, whenm dry you set to work and carve, the rest is easy all you need to do is fit the hair, saddle etc. then work out if you want to stain or paint. the fitting when you stain needs to be very good, when you paint you need the gesso the timber after you silk the joins, thenrub down undercoat and then paint with auto paint.
