Cycling as a hobby

Hobby tags: lifestyle  cycling  custom bikes  sport

Published by: Marcus Peter on 03/07/2008

I took up cycling as a way to reduce my weight around an year ago cause of an advice given by my close friend. Today I love cycling as a sport and as a hobby that not only keeps me fit but also gives me all the entertainment I need.

My fascination for road bikes grew after my first bike which was a Felt F55. I own around five bikes now and hope to keep adding to this collection. Cycling has helped me in more ways than one.

- It has helped me reduce weight and tone by leg and butt muscles
- It has helped me get good sleep in the night (I cycle in the evenings before hitting the bed)
- It has helped me make new friends including my girlfriend
- It has helped me relax and take my mind off things that do not matter
- It has helped me grow as a confident human being

I cannot thank my friend Mike enough who introduced me to cycling. Mike, if you are reading this. Thanks buddy!

Yesterday I started going to the office in my bicycle. My friends at the office were really amused seeing me come this way. Surprisingly I tend to work a lot better when I ride to the office in my cycle. I am much more active. Hope my colleagues will follow my lead too considering the major price hike in fuel rates. Chao for now!

Thinking of going on a diet. Should I just buy myself a bike? :)

Hey Marcus, sounds like a great hobby and lifestyle as well. Great for being healthy not to mention the wallet. I am quite interested myself in "cycling through life". What do you suggets in terms a first bike? Cheers. Alex

Wow! That is a great story. I wish I was braver to get on with cycling on London streets. :)
