Things to do in my retirement

I have my 97 year old mother living with me and am an only child so i spend a lot of time at home caring for her.She has a wonderful collection of materials, haberdashery,buttons and other bits and pieces along those lines - some of which I am sure go back as far as the second world war.I feel it would be a crime not to use these things and as i am a bit "crafty" I thought bags would be a good idea. So i would like to hear from anyone who would know how i could get a pattern or instructions and some good ideas without spending a fortune.
